For sale is our much-loved mercedes camper.It has tax until end of Jan 2013 and m.o.t.till august.An exceptionally spacious and comfortable holiday home which is totally reliable and suprisingly economical.The upholstery is top class and the two sofas easily make up a massive bed which can sleep two adults and two children and is easily as comfortable as any bed I have slept in!The van has both 12v and 240 power hook up and a 12v leisure battery which automatically charges as you drive.A 12v fuse-box AND a 240 fuse box are fitted for safety and peace of mind.The van is double insulated to keep it cool in summer and warm in winter and has two 12v fans fitted and a very effective portable gas heater for the cooler evenings.It is carpeted throughout and comes with thermal velvet curtains to close at night.There is a portaloo included which sits tucked away in its own cupboard.Running water,a sanyo microwave,portable gas stove and sink set into a good run of worktop over cupboards make up a very useable kitchen area.One of the best things about this kind of motorhome is the money you save when stopping at services en route to your holiday...go in for a wee but leave without being ripped off for coffee and hot snacks...just pop the kettle on(included in price :-)and make a cuppa.Lighting in the van is supplied by many individual halogen spotlights which can be used singly for more muted lighting. My partner insists the best thing about the van is the front seats!!They are Recaro-type sports seats and its like driving along in a very comfy arm chair,letting you arrive at your destination without the usual back-ache you get from a long drive.These seats retail at over £400 each and are boxed in in tongue-and-grove to match the rest of the van.He is also rather fond of the stereo and 4 powerful ministry of sound speakers. We get about 35-40 miles per gallon of diesel on a good run,obviously less around town.It is very easy to drive with virtually no body roll on corners. Provided with the van will be the following: portable gas heater portable gas hob microwave 240 hook up and lead leisure battery portaloo spare wheel I have waxed lyrical about the van and can honestly say that I really hate to see it go but obviously it is an old van and isn't perfect so here goes the not-so-good bits: It had a bash on the sliding-door side at one time and this has been patched up.This is shown in picture 9.This doesnt effect the function of the door at all and is really the only problem with the bodywork apart from the very minor bits of surface rust you would get on a vehicle this age. The back bumper wasn't on it when we bought it as there was a tow-bar fitted but the tow bar wasnt properly fixed and we removed it and never bothered to put a bumper on. All the doors lock but the passenger door has to be opened from the inside. So thats it....this van is exactly what it says on the tin.A good,solid,reliable and cheap way of getting away from it all.
